Taipei, Taiwan – October 23rd, 2017 —ALi Corporation, a leading innovator and developer of set-top box (STB) chipsets, and Skardin, a leading STB manufacturing company, jointly announced their further cooperation to expand their spectrums in ecosystem-ready solutions. Both ALi and Skardin have long footprints of collaborations in developing ecosystem-ready solutions that have been deployed in various regions worldwide, by integrating the know-how from both parties. With the upcoming demands in TV-viewing, both are continuing and furthering their cooperation to expand PayTV solution portfolio across FHD to UHD.
Besides the long cooperation history between ALi and Skardin, the next-milestone cooperation is formed to respond to the rising demands of high-definition and high-security viewing experience towards the emerging markets. As usual, ALi will launch its next-generation FHD/UHD chipset family, certified by mainstream CAS vendors, such as Verimatrix, to meet rising demands of 4K, which requires Ultra Security. On the other hand, Skardin will not only contribute its set-top box manufacturing capability, but also expand its value-added software. Once the chipset and the STB are successful integrated, both ALi and Skardin will launch the next-generation security set-top box with enhanced viewing experience.
“ALi and Skardin have proven records of joint efforts, and this time we are expanding our portfolio to meet the new demands in the market. Skardin’s hardware know-how and value-added software have been an integral part and I believe our next-generation FHD/UHD security chipsets will be well-integrated with Skardin’s new security set-top box”, said Tony Chang, COO of ALi Corporation.
“Our ODM capability and the wide SoC portfolio by ALi have enabled us to further penetrate the markets worldwide. Skardin has proven history in manufacturing and the development of value-added software. We are confident that we will have wider joint spectrums to meet the demands of operators in global markets”, said Armando Caltabiano, CEO of Skardin.

Taipei, Noida and New Delhi – February 9, 2017 – ALi Corporation, a leading Set-Top Box (STB) chipset provider, and Dish TV, Asia’s largest Direct-to-Home (DTH) operator, will launch the Liberty project, accelerate convergence and target future expansion opportunities. The Liberty project is based on ALi Corp.’s cutting-edge and sophisticated SoC technology to provide next-generation performance, security, and flexibility while remaining cost-effective for the India market. The aim of the project is to enhance subscriber experience and provide value-added services to expand Dish TV’s market share and revenue stream increase in the near future.
India is the largest DTH market in the world based on the number of subscribers. According to statistic reports in 2016, the DTH subscriber number reached approximately 65 million in India. Since the introduction of the first DTH service in 2003 by Dish TV, the market has experienced exponential growth through multiple digitalization phases. Throughout Phase 1 and Phase 2, four metropolitan areas of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata had gone digital in 2012. In Phase 3, most of the urban areas in India had gone digital and completed ASO (Analogue Switch-Off) process. As Phase 4 is around the corner, the operators are looking forward to the opportunity targeting at the households in rural areas and thus the whole country will be digitalized. For operators to stay ahead of the game, chipset technology plays a significant role in their capability to supply value-added yet secured services that will help them establish a wider subscriber base by offering enriched viewing experience.
“Dish TV serves over 14 million subscribers by 2016, leading the Indian DTH market,” said VK Gupta, COO, Dish TV. “To maintain our market leadership and prepare for future opportunities, we implemented ALi Corp.’s SoC solution to launch the Liberty project, which will improve our DTH operations. ALi Corp. has the expertise to help us provide whatever it takes to realize the true spirit of the Liberty project.
“Ranked among the world’s top 3 with a good chance to be further boosted amid the industry reshuffle, ALi Corp. has a proven track record in delivering high-performing and competitive STB chipset solutions,” said Tony Chang, Chief Operating Officer of ALi Corp. “The Dish TV deployment of ALi Corp. SoC platforms further signifies recognition on our global achievements in helping partners go through ASO and digitalization processes. We are confident to offer innovative and revolutionary features and services to Indian views and we will fully support Dish TV in their expansion”.
Visitors to Convergence 2017 will be able to see live demonstrations of ALi chipset solutions at Hall 12, #E128.

The Indian market has witnessed a sharp increase in DTH subscribers and a rapid shift to digital set-top boxes. The growing number of middle class populations and the demand for HD viewing experience have contributed to the phenomenon. As digitalization Phase 4 is around the corner, the operators are looking forward to the opportunity targeting at the households in rural areas and thus the whole country will be digitalized. For operators to stay ahead of the game, chipset technology plays a significant role in their capability to supply value-added services that will help them establish a wider subscriber base by offering enriched viewing experience.
ALi has established strong partnership ties with Indian and international ODMs and its flagship chipsets have been adopted by DTH operators such as Dish TV and others. ALi supplies both card-based and cardless solutions to the global market with proven records for its high-performance, ASO (analogue switch-off) capability and cost effectiveness that can respond to the rapid STB demand for the Phase 4 Digitalization in India with full range from the widely deployed SD and HD, to the advanced H.265 compression which saves operator bandwidth. The hybrid solutions are newly added product lineup to complement the solution spectrum for the upcoming rising demand.
“ALi has proven records and capability through working with many tier-1 and tier-2 operators, as well as governments worldwide in ASO”, said Tony Chang, Chief Operating Officer of ALi Corporation. “ALi will continue to enhance chipset features and value-added services to meet the growing demands in India and create values for our ecosystem partners”.
Visitors to Convergence 2017 will be able to see live demonstrations of ALi chipset solutions at Hall 12, #E128.
