Taipei – September 4th, 2018 – ALi Corporation, a leading Set-Top Box (STB) chipset provider, proudly announced that the company will showcase multimedia and home-entertainment technology in the coming IBC 2018, from September 14th to 18th, at BS19 & BS20, Hall 1, RAI Amsterdam, as the commitment and dedication to this industry strengthened.

ALi and iWedia Announce the Availability of a Common Offering for Hybrid DVB+OTT STB
Taipei, Taiwan and Lausanne, Switzerland – June 26th, 2018 – ALi Corporation, a leading innovator and developer of Set-Top Box (STB) chipsets and iWedia, a leading provider of software solutions for TV devices to service operators and Consumer Electronics manufacturers, today announced that they have joined forces to provide a common offering for hybrid DVB+OTT STB.
The offer is made of iWedia’s Teatro-3.0 software solution for Linux-based hybrid STB ported on ALi’s M3527 and M3727 STB chipsets.
The announcement was made to coincide with the opening of CommunicAsia / BroadcastAsia 2018, which is held in Singapore from Tuesday, June 26th through to Thursday, June 28th. Both ALi and iWedia exhibit at the show where the integrated solution will be demonstrated.
ALi’s M3527 (resp. M3727) is a cost-effective HD HEVC DVB-S2 (resp. DVB-C) SoC with advanced security. It supports high performance RISC CPU, 2D vector graphic engine, DDR3, Ethernet, HDMI, USB and HD multi-format video decoder. Its advanced security engine has got the latest certifications of major CAS vendors. Whatever the chipset and the OS, the SDK exposes the same APIs (called AUI – ALi Unified Interface) which accelerates the porting of third-parties software solutions.
ALi’s M3727 was selected as the chipset platform for this co-development project with iWedia. The robust, feature-rich M3727 provides a secure environment for the deployment of iWedia software component and turnkey solutions. Besides hardware architecture, ALi AUI (Application Unified Interface) plays a significant role for the interoperability with APIs (Application Programming Interface) from iWedia software solutions, which also accelerates the deployment and development process with Android and Linux RTOS.
iWedia’s Teatro-3.0 is a software solution for Linux-based hybrid (DVB+OTT) STB. It features an easy to customize User Interface / resident app developed using regular Web technologies (HTML5, CSS, DOM, JavaScript). The solution includes a web browser optimized for embedded systems, a full-blown DVB stack as well as client software for HLS and DASH. Support to HbbTV 2 is proposed as an option.
Teatro-3.0 is pre-integrated with the main Conditional Access Systems to secure broadcast content and with the main DRM systems to secure OTT content.
“With Teatro-3.0 Pay TV operators can deliver a mix of broadcast and OTT video services on the main screen using their own branded UI”, said Sunghoon Kim, VP Sales at iWedia. “The M3527 and M3727 SoC from ALi allow for a very optimized STB BOM and they thus efficiently target the first segment of the hybrid STB market – also known as connected zappers – for which massive deployments are foreseen e.g., in LATAM and APAC”, he added.

The SoC solution offered by ALi Corp. is the top-tier set-top box SoC of its generation for HEVC segment integrating all the latest enhancement technology for performance, security, and flexibility while remaining cost-effective for the India market. ALi Adopts Advanced HDR by Technicolor in STB Chipsets
Taipei, Taiwan – January 8th, 2018 – ALi Corporation, a leading innovator and developer of set-top box (STB) chipsets, has announced that its upcoming generation of chipsets will feature Advanced HDR by Technicolor technology.
“Viewers today are demanding an enhanced, sophisticated and true-color viewing experience. With Advanced HDR by Technicolor, ALi-equipped STBs can receive HDR content from any broadcast operator that has HDR-ready platforms. As a result, the whole ecosystem benefits from ALi’s HDR-enabled chipsets by expanding the audience that is capable of consuming HDR content, while reducing the time it takes to deploy HDR-ready STBs to consumers’ homes,” said Daniel Huang, CEO of ALi Corporation.
Advanced HDR by Technicolor combines two award-winning technologies, Technicolor HDR, a universal distribution solution, and Technicolor Intelligent Tone Management (ITM), a powerful graphic SDR to HDR conversion tool. The two technologies improve the ability to appropriately deliver SDR or HDR content regardless of screen or format through the electro-optical transfer function (EOTF). By integrating Technicolor HDR solutions into the upcoming generation of chipsets, ALi Corp offers the STB industry HDR-ready chipsets to enhance the wide-screen viewing experience.

Skardin, ALi, and Voxtok Collaborate to Merge TV and Music with Smart Sound Bar
Montpellier, France / Taipei, Taiwan – September 11, 2017 – Voxtok, an innovative music entertainment platform provider for audio and TV industries, is proud to announce that Skardin, a leading consumer electronics manufacturing company specializing in set-top box and broadband industry solutions, has joined the Voxtok.music platform ecosystem by adopting a Voxtok innovation called Smart Sound Bar, a new connected audio device that merges TV and Music. Skardin’s new product is also the first in its line to be powered by ALi STB chipsets.
Smart Sound Bar merges the functionality of a set-top box with that of a multi-room sound bar, offering seamless hardware and software integration. This is first in a series of sound products being developed by Skardin and Voxtok, powered by ALi’s high-performance architecture chipsets. The new platform will offer a unique and enriched user experience in a compact design.

ALi, Mirada to showcase Hybrid Solution at IBC 2017 in Amsterdam
Taipei, Taiwan – September 5th, 2017 — ALi Corporation, a leading innovator and developer of set-top box (STB) chipsets, and Mirada, a leading provider of cutting-edge products and services for Digital TV Operators and Broadcasters, are pleased to announce their partnership to have Mirada’s Iris TV Everywhere solution, an end-to-end multiscreen platform, pre-integrated with ALi STB chipsets. The partnership has been formed to supply the market with a seamlessly integrated platform empowered by an advanced multiscreen solution and high-performance, secured STB chipsets. The collaboration between Mirada and ALi chipsets will offer the market a shortened time-to-market deployment cycle and a premium solution with applications for all devices.
Mirada’s Iris is an end-to-end TV Everywhere product which enables TV operators to publish and promote their content across any network: DVB, DTH, IPTV and OTT. Fast and powerful thanks to the synergy between front- and back-end integration, it comes with its acclaimed Inspire UI, an unparalleled viewing experience specifically designed to boost engagement. Mirada’s product allows end users to access content from their favourite device: STB, smartphone, tablet or laptop, including access to all premium services such as Video-on-Demand, Catch up TV, Virtual Channels, Start-over, Timeshift, Download & Play and many more. With the chipset know-how from ALi, Mirada is ambitious about the latest release of its Iris solution.
